Darkroomers, in co-operation with Night Photography Lovers and The Best Places to Photograph in San Diego presents: Steel Wool Adventures with Reflections and Graffiti.
Park in structure behind Bloomingdales, then cross over to path on Riverwalk. We will head down to the tunnels at 7:30.
Equipment to Bring:
- Flash light/Miners light for hands free operation
- Cable Release
- Wide angle lens
- Tripod
- UV Filter to protect the glass element of your lens. Sparks and flying debris can damage your lens.
What to Wear:
- Comfortable shoes. The walk isn’t long or difficult but there may be weeds and/or some gravel to negotiate.
- Jeans, hoodie or long sleeve flannel shirt and a hat. Sparks from embers can burn or irritate the skin.
- Safety goggles to protect your eyes from flying debris.
We do ask that you sign up for this event because it is a night shoot and your safety is our primary concern and we want to know that you plan to go.
Join Alan Hess as he talks about what not to do in photography; Q&A
Alan Hess is best known as a concert photographer. He has photographed hundreds, maybe thousands, of concerts, three songs at a time. The wide variety of bands that Alan has shot include Billy Idol, Black Eyed Peas, Bruce Hornsby, Bullet for my Valentine, Citizen Cope, The Dead, Death Cab for Cutie, Cher, John Legend, Madonna, Marilyn Manson, Robin Williams, Slayer, Steel Pulse, Widespread Panic, and Willie Nelson, just to name a few. Alan is currently the house photographer for the Valley View Casino Center and the Laughlin Event Center. When he isn’t out shooting concerts, he is writing photography books. He is the author of more than a dozen books covering everything from concert and low light photography to the basics of exposure and composition and the Nikon Creative Lighting System. Alan has contributed to Photoshop User magazine, recorded classes for KelbyOne and has been a part of the Instructor Dream Team at Photoshop World since 2009.
Alan will also be bringing copies of his latest books and an advance copy of his newest book THE ENTHUSIAST’S GUIDE TO MULTI-SHOT TECHNIQUES which is available for pre-order from rockynook

On September 17, 2016, the Global Photo Walk is back!
This is your chance to get out, meet fellow photographers in your community who share your passion, learn from each other, make new friends, and of course – capture some inspiring images.
The theme of this year’s walk is “Action/Adventure”; Grab your friends and show us what makes your city special! Shine a light on your hometown’s hidden gems, your favorite photo spots, and everyday life in your community.
No need to be a pro to attend! Grab whatever camera you have (DSLR, mobile phone, point-and-shoot) and join in the fun!
This is a free event and you don’t have to be a member in order to participate but we do ask that you let us know that you are coming so sign up on our Facebook Event Microsite!

Join us for our Monthly Critique Night. Members bring in prints for critique. Those prints accepted by the Judge will hang for up to 2 months in our member gallery.
