Join us for our First Wednesday Monthly Meeting. First Wednesday Meetings are lectures, talks, discussions, or presentations.
This meeting will be held in person at the Photographic Arts Building in Balboa Park (next to Spanish Village).
The meeting will start promptly at 7 pm, but we’ll open the building at 6 pm for setup and social hour.
Join us for our Monthly Critique Night!
Our January judge will be Aaron Serafino.
On the third Wednesday of each month, members bring in prints for critique. Prints accepted by the Judge will hang for up to 2 months in the Photographic Arts Building gallery.
Image critiques are available for members only. If you’d like more information about joining Darkroomers, please check out our membership page and email us if you have any questions.

- Join us on February 2, 2022 as Photo Coordinators Lois Fong-Sakai & Amethel Parel-Sewell give us an update on the 2022 International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair.
- They will cover the entry rules & categories, schedule, and how to enter. Matting & presentation will be covered, as well as tips on how to best submit your images to maximize your chances of getting accepted in the largest juried print competition in North America.
About Lois
- A second-generation photographer, Lois Fong-Sakai has been taking photographs for about 40 years. She is the Coordinator of the International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair, and an owner of Jade Coast Photography, which specializes in portrait, dance, and event photography. When not photographing clients, Ms. Fong-Sakai enjoys capturing humor, full moons, landscape, and street photos for fun.
- During the pandemic, she started making a series of photographs with a theme of “Friday Funnies”, to share her love for the lighter side of life and to make people laugh. You can see some of her work at www.jadecoastphoto.com and Instagram @lois_fongsakai
- A member of Professional Photographers of San Diego County, she is their Photojournalism Photographer of the Year for 2020 and 2021.
- She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and a Masters in Civil Engineering, both from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in California & Nevada.
