Darkroomers Monthly Critique Night @ Photographic Arts Building

The meeting will start promptly at 7 pm, but we’ll open the building at 6 pm for setup and social hour.

Join us for our Monthly Critique Night!

Our judge for March will be Amethel Parel-Sewell.

Members bring prints for critique on the third Wednesday of each month. Prints accepted by the Judge will hang for up to 2 months in the Photographic Arts Building gallery.

Visitors are welcome, however, submitting images for critique is available for members only. If you’d like more information about joining Darkroomers, please check out our membership page and email us if you have any questions.

About Amethel Parel-Sewell

Amethel Parel-Sewell has over 30 years of multidisciplinary experience as an editor-in-chief, creative director, photography editor, photographer, multimedia producer, graphic designer, and educator. She’s a Program Coordinator for the International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair, where she has also served as a judge and a speaker before joining as a coordinator.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief/Creative Director of Brilliant Star, an award-winning international publication encouraging world citizenship, social justice, and using the Arts to make the world a better place. She’s the founder of Light Chasers, a vibrant photography community-based in San Diego, where she and a leadership team host competitions, group exhibits, workshops, meet-ups, and other opportunities for learning and community-building. Amethel also works as a photography mentor when she’s not chasing the moon, the stars, the sun, and other beautiful light.

Photographer of all things San Diego with K.C. Alfred @ Photographic Arts Building

From Little League to the Olympics, from city council to Presidents of the United States and everything in between, K.C. Alfred has photographed it all in San Diego during a 20-plus year career as a staff photographer at The San Diego Union-Tribune.  K.C. specializes in a variety of photography disciplines ranging from portraiture to sports to aerial and underwater. K.C. will show his photos from the U-T, such as Padres, Comic-Con, and life around town, as well as personal projects, such as his favorite subject, his world-famous skateboarding cat Comet.

Darkroomers On Location: Temecula @ Ricardo Breceda Art Gallery

Join us for a day trip to Temecula. We’ll start by meeting at Ricardo Breceda’s Art Gallery in Aguanga at 10 AM – the artist who created the monumental metal sculptures in the Anza-Borrego Desert. The entrance fee is $10/person.

After the gallery, we’ll drive to Robert Renzoni Vineyards, with breathtaking De Portola Valley views, for wine tasting and lunch at noon at Mama Rosa’s Trattoria.

After lunch, we can drive to western-themed  Old Town Temecula to explore the shops and grab a few more photos.

John Watts from Watts Digital Imaging in San Diego is a photographic post-processing specialist who’s been privileged over the last 35+ years to work in printing partnership with some of the world’s finest photographers, both professional and serious amateur.
