Welcome to another year and another wonderful photo opportunity with Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk (WWPW) at the fabulous and famous La Jolla Cove. I’ll be your leader for this walk – my name is Kevin and I’m a passionate photographer, a member of Darkroomers (an awesome photo club here in San Diego), and have worked for several photography software/cloud companies since 2006 – whew, a long time, and lots of stories!
This year, we’re going to catch some wonderful early morning sunlight (if the fog cooperates!) as we stroll from the Cove beach around past the Bridge Club towards Children’s Pool and beyond. Sunrise is at 6:45am and high tide is at 8:13am. In past years, it has been a little on the cool side at the start, but heats up nicely as the walk goes on, so my advice would be to bring a light jacket.
If you like to shoot birds and other critters, bring your long lens, but otherwise this is a “target-rich environment” so any lens will be just fine. Seriously, there’s a lot to look at: Ocean, swimmers, rock structures, sea lions, birds, people/artists, street shooting and architecture up in the Village – and I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch.
We’ll end at a coffee/pastry/breakfast shop called Better Buzz to “debrief”, talk about how the WWPW photo contest works and more. Hope to see y’all there! Reach out if you have any questions at all!
The meeting will start promptly at 7 pm, but we’ll open the building at 6 pm for setup and social hour.

Members bring prints for critique on the third Wednesday of each month. Prints accepted by the Judge will hang for up to 2 months in the Photographic Arts Building gallery.
Visitors are welcome, however, submitting images for critique is available for members only. If you’d like more information about joining Darkroomers, please check out our membership page and email us if you have any questions.
About Amethel
Amethel Parel-Sewell is a multidisciplinary creative with more than 30 years of experience as an editor-in-chief, creative director, photography editor, photojournalist, multimedia producer, graphic designer, and educator. Her work flows at the intersection of storytelling, visual art, and education.
She currently serves as a Coordinator of the International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair, the nation’s largest and longest-running juried print exhibition. With her passion for teaching, she leads the exhibition’s robust educational program. Prior to this role, she contributed as both a judge and speaker.
Amethel is also the Editor-in-Chief/Creative Director of Brilliant Star, an award-winning international media agency that uplifts youth and the young-at-heart through global citizenship, social justice, and the transformative power of the arts.
Rooted in community, she founded Light Chasers, a vibrant San Diego–based photography collective that hosts competitions, workshops, exhibitions, and the best potlucks — all designed to light a path for learning, connection, and growth.
When she’s not mentoring creatives or developing educational content, she’s likely on the road with her husband and their beloved campervan, chasing moonrises and fleeting light.

Get to know Darkroomer and commercial photographer Peter Liebig in this Member Spotlight presentation. Peter will share his passion for capturing the excitement of motorsports, classic cars, and more—along with the creative artistry that transforms his images into unique digital paintings. Joined by his wife and partner, Wanda, Peter will give us a behind-the-scenes look at their dynamic journey.

Peter Liebig is a San Diego-based commercial photographer specializing in cars, motorcycles, drag racing, and other motorsports. A top photo artist, Peter specializes in creative, artistic, and digital paintings of multiple venues. He owns Peter A. Liebig Photography.
His wife, Wanda, is his partner and an accomplished professional photographer. They make a dynamic duo.

What lens do you use to create the 3D effect that you want? What gear do you need to get started? Creigh Ryan McIntyre will share his Digital Workflow from start to finish.
Automotive Light Painting is a specialized photographic technique that transforms vehicles into striking works of art by manipulating light in a controlled, creative manner. This process typically involves photographing a car in a dark environment using long exposure times to capture the interplay of light and shadow.
About Creigh Ryan McIntyre
Creigh Ryan McIntyre, known professionally as Creigh Photography, is a Southern California-based freelance photographer celebrated for his unique light-painted images of classic cars, emergency vehicles, and aircraft. A self-taught artist who began his journey photographing landscapes and events, Ryan developed a niche in long-exposure photography, using controlled lighting to highlight intricate vehicle details.
Raised in Los Angeles and San Diego, his lifelong appreciation for automobiles and public service vehicles deeply influences his work. Balancing his creative pursuits with a full-time job, he maintains photography as a passion-driven endeavor, with clients ranging from car collectors to fire and police departments.
