Come to the San Diego County Fair and represent Darkroomers! We’ll promote our club at the Exhibition of Photography’s Photography Club Mixer. Members who attend and are willing to help at the mixer will receive complimentary fair tickets (7 are available, first come, first serve). Come earlier in the day to enjoy the fair and then mingle with photography enthusiasts in the evening.
If you’d like to attend and receive complimentary tickets, please RSVP to Angela.
The meeting will start promptly at 7 pm, but we’ll open the building at 6 pm for setup and social hour.
Join us for our Monthly Critique Night!
Our judge for July will be Greg Klamt.
Members bring prints for critique on the third Wednesday of each month. Prints accepted by the Judge will hang for up to 2 months in the Photographic Arts Building gallery.
Visitors are welcome, however, submitting images for critique is available for members only. If you’d like more information about joining Darkroomers, please check out our membership page and email us if you have any questions.

Join your fellow Darkroomers for a sunset and Milky Way photo shoot at the Motor Transport Museum in Campo! The cost is $23/person, payable in CASH at the event. This covers the $20/pp admission plus the cost of the museum docent ($30). We need a minimum of 10 people (max attendance, 20).
This event is open to guests on a space-available basis, with priority given to Darkroomers members.
Schedule of Events:
- 6 PM – Gates Open
- 7:42 PM – Sunset
- 12:00 AM – Gates Close
Things to Bring:
- Camera
- Wide-angle lens (f/2.8 or better is ideal)
- Cable release
- Tripod
- Headlamp with RED light option
- LEDs for Light Painting (optional)
- Light Jacket
- Picnic for dinner
- Water
- Small, foldable stool (optional)
Rules & Guidelines from the Motor Transport Museum
- Do Not Wear Open Toed Sandals or shoes! Be aware that it gets cooler at night and a sweater or light jacket may be desired. Dress accordingly!
- It will be very wonderfully dark, guiding lights should only emit a red beam so as not to disrupt others’ photography. Point the guiding light at the ground in front of you.
- Please be aware and respectful of others around you so as not to disrupt their shot. When approaching others verbally inquire of a safe pass zone.
- Your food or beverages may be stored in our showroom refrigerator but must be removed when you leave. Please place all food disposal in the green trash can with the lid.
- Doors and hoods of vehicles in and outside the building are not to be opened and vehicles may not be climbed on or inside. Some vehicles may be used for photo ops with permission of the MTM supervisor.
- Please throw all trash in appropriate designated trash cans located by the picnic area.
- The gate will be open from 6:00pm till 12:00 and sunset is around 7:30. I suggest arriving before dark and walk around to get the lay of the land then to hopefully shoot a great sunset. Please use your fog or parking lights at night when leaving.
Also, our picnic area is a great spot for consuming your meal or you are welcome to eat at the tables supplied inside the Mill as well. El Paso Mexican food is located at the dead-end of Buckman Springs Rd to the right on Hwy 94 next to Cameron Corners gas station, Pit Stop Deli is located across from El Paso in the entranceway of Sinclair Gas, and on the street behind us is Campo Cafe’ with a scrumptious variety of good eats, drinks and variety of drinks! They tend to be busy at weekends so arrive early or call your order in ahead to save the wait. Their link is https://www.thecampocafe.com/. We will also have complimentary water available in our refrigerator.
